Agent Sonya
Online Talk and Live Q&A with Anthony Glees and Patrick Marnham
Available Now (First Streamed Live: 7pm, 29th March 2022)
Join Prof Anthony Glees and Patrick Marnham and discover the Oxfordshire life of Soviet ‘Agent Sonya’. Born Ursula Kuczynski, Agent Sonya lived in many places under many names, including nearby Oxfordshire villages of Glympton, Kidlington as Ursula Beurton - on the doorstep of Blenheim, the wartime HQ for MI5.
She was described by Ben McIntyre as a ‘lover, mother, soldier, spy’ - but was there more to her than this? Was she an agent for MI6 as well as a Soviet spy? Join us for this online talk and live Q&A as the secret life of ‘Agent Sonya’ is revealed.
Anthony Glees wishes to acknowledge the painstaking archival research undertaken by Dr Tony Percy which led to this story being told; it is his story as well as Anthony's.
