Saboteurs, Assassins and Subversives! An Everyday Tale of the SOE
Online Talk with Ingram Murray and Antonia Keaney
WATCH NOW
Formed as a secret organisation in June 1940, the brave volunteers of the Special Operations Executive (SOE) were charged by Churchill to 'set Europe ablaze'. Join Ingram Murray in conversation with Blenheim Palace’s Antonia Keaney, as he lifts the veil of secrecy which shrouded their activities and describes how far reaching, perilous and effective their activities were.
Both at the time and afterwards, the SOE had a controversial record; was it effective, and were its methods acceptable in a civilised society ? It had only a short life but it was the model followed by the USA in creating the CIA, and many of its ruthless practices have been copied by terrorist organistions today.
