Threadlines was created for West Ox Arts Gallery members to engage with artifacts and history at the Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum.

Objects encountered on display, from the museum stores and exhibitions, including the E.H. Shepherd display in 2025, has inspired six artists from Italy, Germany and the UK to respond in a variety of media, including fabric and thread.

The title of the exhibition, Threadlines, has a range of military associations, evoking the 'threadlines' inside the barrel of a gun to the more literal threads and stitched items, such as uniforms and kit, stitched leather, and a Japanese soldier's flag for luck and protection.

The artists have created independently, but are woven together, with the past connecting us to the present.
