Women and War Collecting Campaign

Women and War Collecting Campaign

Did your grandmother work in a munitions factory during the Second World War? Have you got an object from the Front Line that your female relative once owned? Do you have your own personal story about living through a conflict?

SOFO has now opened our new collecting campaign which focuses on stories of women during times of conflict. We are aiming to represent the many voices of women affected by conflict in Oxfordshire through the stories and objects we collect. With your permission, these could be used in our learning resources, displays or outreach work!

We are using the following criteria in our search for stories:

  • The woman in the story must have an Oxfordshire connection i.e. was born, lived or worked in Oxfordshire
  • The story must be related to a conflict. We want to hear stories about fighting on the Front Line, living on the Home Front, protests against war, escaping war, and anything else relating to women in wartime.

If you have a story you would like to tell, please use the form below to upload your stories and photographs. Alternatively, you can email collections@sofo.org.uk for an appointment with the Collections Manager or to ask any questions.
