The Ladies of Blenheim: Lust and Laudanum
Antonia Keaney, Blenheim\'s historian, brings you an entertaining look at the lives and loves of the ladies of the Marlborough family - usually overlooked in favour of the men. Beginning with Sarah Churchill, the indomitable First Duchess, and continuing through the centuries with the adventures of some of her successors, this talk redresses the balance as it looks at the achievement of some of the women and discusses the thwarted talents and potential of other members of the Marlborough family. Don\'t forget to make time to browse the museum galleries when you attend this event. On the same day living historians Tastes Through Time will be on hand with engaging, interactive displays to teach visitors more about the lives of wartime women. True to their name, they\'ll also have samples of wartime recipes to try out too! Your talk ticket includes general admission to the museum and all galleries (normally £6.50), plus tea and cake! Galleries open 11am - 5pm. One of our series of events marking International Women\'s Day 2024.
Location: Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum (The Briefing Room)
