We’ve had an incredible 10 years, but now we need your help to continue to preserve the county’s stories for future generations
For 10 years SOFO has worked with local people, charities and a diverse communities to tell our county’s stories - local stories with global impact. Exhibitions including Pilots of the Caribbean, to Iraqi Women, Art & War and The Indian Army in the First World War have helped spotlight forgotten histories and lesser-known stories.
Outreach programmes now see the museum host a range of veterans’ events, from regular coffee mornings to upcoming curation courses, and co-hosting events with the Army Benevolent Fund. Our Children & Military Lives exhibition saw us work hand-in-hand with charity Little Troopers and the families and young children of service people, as well as Iraqi Women, Art & War and War Toys.
We also care for an ever-expanding collection of objects and records, preserving the heritage of not just the two county regiments, the Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry and Queens Own Oxfordshire Hussars, but a wide range of treasures which represent the full breadth of the county’s military and wartime history.
Help us continue to preserve this very special heritage well into the future.
