Oxfordshire’s D-Day Stories

Oxfordshire's D-Day Stories

2024 marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day. It is an opportunity to restate and refresh some of the compelling stories of the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, and the Pegasus Bridge operation in particular.

But there will also be many other less dramatic stories of how the county was involved in the run-up to D-Day which we are keen to bring to light, and which may resonate with wider audiences. We have the opportunity to present some of these stories at SOFO. Our D-Day 80th Anniversary exhibition is due to open in May.

Were you an Oxfordshire child watching the increase in air activity?

Did you meet Allied soldiers billeted in temporary camps throughout the county?

If you have a story to share and one that might feature in the museum, please submit it here using the form. Help us build the Oxfordshire picture of D Day.
