Research Centre

The SOFO Research Centre is the hub of our activity, especially while we are still planning and building our main museum. See below for our services.

Housing the collections

We provide a home for the collections that we manage. These are divided into the objects - weapons, equipment, instruments, pictures, and other things - and the archives, which are the original paper records.

We also have a library, primarily books about the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, general military books and some about the Oxfordshire Yeomanry.

Last, but not least, we have a growing body of research output, ranging from letters to books, with an increasing amount of digital material.

Research

This ranges from answering letters to the public, to compiling lists of those who served and as much about them as we can find, to databases of the collections, to articles and books. Our volunteers have also arranged study days and battlefield tours, and we can occasionally do lectures. You may also find us at local family history days.
